What is GDPR?
GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) applies to every company in the European Union that uses personal data. The regulations cover your data and how companies look after it. Protecting your data is really important to us at Colourtone.com, and we want to make sure you know what GDPR means for you and your account(s) with us.
From May 2018, companies will have to stick to new rules to make sure your data is looked after. These rules give you a number of rights. They include the right to see the personal data companies hold about you, you being able to ask them to delete this personal data, and you have to give your consent before a firm can do certain things with your data. The only exception to this rule is that if you have placed an order with us we are obliged to keep on record/file that information for a number of years, currently seven. This is for accounting purpose and Inland Revenue.
Type of information collected.
When you place an enquiry request, place an order or create an account we need to know your full name, address, with full post code, telephone number and a valid e-mail address. This allows us to process and fulfil your request. Telephone number(s) are used so that we can contact you easily if required. In addition we collect your email address and name if you wish to sign-up for the newsletter, and further details as you submit them for use on the site. We will from time to time send you an e-mail on new services or products offered. You can at any time unsubscribe from these e-mails if you so wish. How do we use your information?
We use the information collected from you to process enquiries/sales and to provide a more personalised shopping experience. We may use your personal information to communicate with you about your order, for record keeping purposes, and in aggregate (and therefore anonymously) for market research purposes, to track activity on our site, to publish trends and/or to improve usefulness and content. We may use other companies to provide services on our behalf, including packaging, mailing, and delivering.. We will only provide those companies the information they need to deliver the service and they are prohibited from using that information for any other purpose. We may undertake a search with third-parties for the purposes of verifying your identity and the details you have submitted as part of your order. To do so these third-parties may check the details you supply against any particulars on any database (public or otherwise) to which they have access. They may also use your details in the future to assist other companies for verification purposes. A record of the search will be retained.
Our online shop requires that the visitor's computer accept a session cookie. This session cookie contains simply the session ID number which identifies the visitor to the store, as separate from other visitors. The session cookie contains no personal identity information, and in itself is thus anonymous as a 3rd-party cannot use anything in the cookie to identify the visitor in any way.
In a traditional configuration, and by definition, this session cookie expires at the end of the visitor's session in the browser, or at a predefined time (typically 24 minutes) after their last "click", whichever is sooner.
The session ID is used only to recognise what the visitor has done during their visit to the store. This includes things like: whether the visitor has put something in their shopping basket, whether they have logged in, and allows them to proceed through checkout.
If you have opted to receive our newsletter then we may send you offers for goods or services from our company. If you do not wish to receive this information, please let us know by e-mailing at Email Us
